Over the past 3 months I have learned a lot about teaching. However, there are still areas I can improve. What will I focus on in the coming months?
- Collaborative work - by being forced (by a timetable clash) to undertake group tasks alone, I have realised the importance of collaborative work. I will strive to work more with my peers, as well as to encourage my students to work collaborativey.
- Focus on assessment - thus far, my student assessments have been relatively unsophisticated, relying mostly on written tasks. As I being my teaching practice, I will look for new, more imaginative ways to assess student prior knowledge and learning.
- Syllabus referencing - in reflection on my planning and teaching, I have noticed some areas of the syllabus that I have either failed to cover, or have coverred in insufficient detail. In future teaching I will look to more rigourously reference syllabus documentation. This really needs to take place during planning, teaching and reflection.
- Interactive strategies - it is all too easy to have students work on tasks in isolation and without interaction. In future I will aim to include at least one interactive element to each of my lessons.
- Reflection - reflection has allow me to assess and improve my practice, and I aim to continuing this process into the future.
